MULTNOMAH COUNTY PROPERTY TAX APPEAL
Think your Multnomah County value is too high? I’ll handle the appeal.
I file 2026-27 property value appeals with the Multnomah County Property Value Appeals Board for homeowners in Portland, Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview, Wood Village and the rest of Multnomah County. I do the evaluation and the paperwork and represent you at the hearing. You pay my fee only if your taxes go down.

Filing in Multnomah County
- Filed by mail or in person only. Email and fax are not accepted.
- A separate signed petition for each tax account, with a copy of the tax statement.
- $30 filing fee per tax account, payable to Multnomah County.
- Deadline December 31, 2026: a U.S. Postal Service postmark (not a postage meter date) or delivery by that day.
- Your signed authorization for me to represent you. My current practice is to file the original hand-signed form while the county confirms whether electronic signatures are accepted.
- Evidence of market value as of January 1, 2026 can go with the petition or be presented at the hearing.
County rules checked in October 2026. I confirm the current rules and any fee with you before anything is filed.
How it works
Tell me about your property
Send the short form with the property address and your tax account number if you have it.
Sign the agreement and authorization
Nothing is filed until both are signed. Your fee rate is set by the date of the last required client signature.
I check whether an appeal can save you money
I compare the county’s January 1, 2026 market value with recent sales and your home’s condition, and check whether a lower value would actually lower your bill. If it can’t, I tell you and we stop at no cost.
I file and represent you
I file with the Multnomah County Property Value Appeals Board before December 31 and present the case at the hearing, so you don’t need to attend.

Multnomah County questions
What is the Multnomah County appeal deadline?
Appeals for the 2026-27 tax year must be filed by December 31, 2026. A mailed appeal must carry a U.S. Postal Service postmark (a private postage meter date does not count) on or before December 31, or be delivered to the county by that day. I file well before the deadline.
Can a Multnomah County appeal be filed online or by email?
No. Multnomah County accepts appeals by mail or in person. It does not accept appeals by email or fax.
What does Multnomah County charge to file?
Multnomah County charges $30 per tax account, payable to Multnomah County. You pay the county fee whether or not the appeal succeeds, and I confirm it with you before anything is filed.
I own more than one property. Is that one appeal?
No. Each tax account needs its own signed petition and its own $30 filing fee. I prepare a separate petition for each account.
What do you need me to sign?
The agreement with me, and an authorization that lets me represent you before the board. For Multnomah County filings, my current practice is to file your original hand-signed authorization with the petition while I confirm with the county whether an electronic signature is accepted. Oregon’s instructions also allow an authorization letter or another form with the required information and signatures.
Do I need to go to the hearing?
No. I represent you at the Multnomah County Property Value Appeals Board. You are welcome to attend.
Full details, fees and payment options are on the main property tax appeal page. Other counties: Washington County and Clackamas County.
