BUYING IN PORTLAND
Portland Condo Guide
A practical guide to reserves, special assessments, building envelopes, shared systems, HOA documents, and the tradeoffs that matter before you buy.
This guide is coming
Right now Portland’s condo market is struggling. Prices are dropping, and many buildings are going through tax compression, where falling market values press owners’ tax bills against Oregon’s Measure 5 limits. As the market moves closer to improving, I will publish a full guide to help you navigate buying a condo here: what to read in the HOA documents, how to judge reserves and special-assessment risk, and how a building’s envelope and shared systems affect what you will owe.
Until then, if you are weighing a condo now, I am glad to walk through a specific building with you.
